I went to Watts Bar (Pinhook Ferry Ln ramp below the dam) fishing today. I didn't catch anything. But I was greeted by 2 dogs that had apparently been dumped. There was a 3rd dog but sadly he was dead. Dropped on the path that runs to the river next to the ramp. This dog was poorly covered with leaves and there was actually a mound of leaves next to the body. I did not dig in the leaf pile to see if there was another dog buried there.

This was heart breaking. These dogs are hungry. I went to the store and bought food for them. I put some down for each one to have a good meal. Then I left the bag on the boat ramp sign with a note saying when I fed them and asked that someone give the remaining food out. It has to be done in two separate piles because the male dog (black and tan) was a little hog and wouldn't let the female eat. As for friendly towards humans they are both very friendly. The black and tan wanted to get in my truck. I have 5 dogs already so that was a definite no. The female has a large abscess on her neck. It's about half the size of a football. She needs veterinary care.

If anyone in the area has a minute tomorrow, can you swing by and check on the dogs/ give the rest of the food out. If you know of animal control for the area, if there is one, can you give them a call or provide me with the info and I will call.

Thank you. The would be great. Hopefully the rain hasn't ruined the dog food. They could use it after a cold wet night. If you do make it, I had to feed them separately. I fed one by the ramp and the other one all the way over to the corner of the parking lot. Thanks again.

No, I did not put the pans down. Must have been another good Samaritan. I guess they have full bellies so they may have wandered around some. Or maybe they were taken in, although the food in the pans does not really suggest that.

Owners/nappers dump cats and dogs on us all the time. I've witnessed it with my own eyes more than once. You can't do anything to them except call the cops. That's why they do it!!

I caught one guy dumping at night and caught him out later and cussed him out in front of his wife. He just lied and ran for the truck door, total coward. When I left his wife's jaw was still on the floor.

Some real low life people get domestic animals unfortunately.

He was definitely a coward. I get it that sometimes things happen and a person has to surrender a pet. But there are places for that, rescue groups, shelters, heck most everyone is on book of face, put a removing ad on the marketplace. It's just cowardly to dump an animal and let it fend for itself. I'm glad you got to call that guy out for what he did. It's to bad we can't do more, and the law doesn't provide harsh enough punishment for these jerks.
