Do It Yourself Soil Testing vs Lab Testing

I apologize in adavnce as I am sure this has been asked before. I'd love to hear from you all concerning your experience with soil testing yourself versus sending off to a lab. If you have had luck with "self test" products, I'd love to know what those products are.

I saw the biologic ph meter on their website. I am skepticial but wondered if anyone had any luck with it. Thanks.

I posted the same question. The scale tipped to "Have it tested". I picked up a Soil Sample Kit from the Co-Op today and will have them do it. Just for kicks and giggles I'm going to get the PH Meter,($24). I'll post the results.

The soild pH meters work....but they don't tell you how much of what you need to balance the ratio. That's the key.

Makes sense Hook, Good call. But it would tell you if your lime application is working , wouldn't it?
