Did you buy a 30/30 Marlin in Cookeville around 2000-2001 from a college kid?

As a young college kid at TN tech I decided to sell my first deer rifle to someone on this site. It was a lever action Marlin 30/30 that my parents got me for Christmas when I was 13. At the time I had no attachment to the gun and was young and dumb (still am dumb) and wanted a different gun so I posted it for sale on this site for something like $175-$200 if I remember. A guy from the site came to my Apt by tech and bought the gun. I thought I'd throw this post out there to see if by any miracle, the buyer is still on the site, remembers this, still has the gun and would be willing to sell it back to me. Id pay a premium to get it back. It was in Cookeville sometime around 2000-2001.

Hope you find it man.

I sold mine a couple years ago, for $350.
Now they're bringing about 2x that.

I was actually glad to be rid of mine, they're too short, and usually the triggers are just terrible.

Shot in the dark, but you might contact Blackbeard (Site Owner) and see if your listing when you sold it has been archived. I was able to go to my profile and click on my posts number and go back 14 years to the day I joined and see all of my posts. You might be able to find it that way also.

@Blackbeard , can you assist?

Similar story, my father gave away a rifle he only used 1x to shoot a moose in Newfoundland, he gave it away 30 yrs ago, way before I started hunting.
I heard the story, and over the years tracked it down thru various owners, it was an oddball gun, a sportified 1911 enfield, modified to a 308/norma magnum. Really hard to find scope rings or ammo. The various owners had never shot or successfully had scope put on it.
I got it back, took a few years to find the right scope/ring combo, and custom ammo.
It's a tack driver, but super heavy to carry.

Decided would be for special hunt only, finally this fall I had chance to use on Wyoming elk hunt.
Special memories, will hang down to one of my boys. Even had my father's name engraved on it.

Awesome story

I'm in same boat....if someone bought a Marlin 30/30 with a gold medallion in the stock at Coach Elmer Brown's small hunting and fishing store near E.O Coffman middle school in Lawrenceburg in the 80's ...I would buy it back. My dad is still upset that I traded my Christmas present for a used 742 Woodmaster 30.06 after one year.

Good Luck!

I got hammered at Spankie's a few months ago. Hope this helps!
Chicken on a stick for the win! My last 2 years at Tech , 93-95, I lived on the corner of 12th and Dixie near the Presidents House and football field. We'd walk there and also the Clubhouse which isn't there anymore. Too many to drink didn't matter cause we could walk home. Haven't been hammered in a long time and don't plan on it but man we had some fun times back then.

Clubhouse is still there - now it's Vinnie T's Clubhouse. Still exactly the same.
