What's everyone's local processor charge for a whole deer? Just basic cuts like your back straps butterflied, tenderloins whole, some roasts, maybe some stew meat, and the rest burger? Do they charge you more to cape a deer out? And do they vacuum seal or just butcher wrap? Do you think you get your deer exactly back or do they batch process them?

I believe ours is $55 standard cut. No vacuum seal, but wrapped. I'd say for a lot of processors, you're going to get some that's yours and some that's not your meat. Ours charges $5 to cape out. I never do a standard cut though. I always cut out tenderloin prior and then get the backstrap and the rest burger and sausage 50/50

I think it really depends on where you are. My local guy (north ga) will do the whole deer for $50 (any cuts you want). He'll also gut it for you for an extra $10

Usually they'll charge you a little bit here and there for things that take more time to make (like smoked sausage, etc...)

I never use a processor, do my own, but I wouldn't do it the way I do for less than $100.00......Guess I'll never have to worry about being a commercial processor.... :)

$80 from Flowers in NW Nashville. He does a great job but $80 is way to high. But, he is my only choice that I know of that is reputable. I would love to find someone closer to Mt. Juliet

I think the ones that are charging prices that low are just tossing the rib cages, shanks, and ??? what else. I don't see how you could recover all those other bits of meat in a timely fashion and make any money with prices that low. Maybe I'm wrong - I've never watched that many done in a "commercial" setting.

I think mine is $70 basic cut but I only drop off deer for HFTH so I'm not 100% sure.

$55 a deer for steaks run through a tenderizer and vacuum packed, sausage, and burger. We generally drop does off 2 or 3 at a time and pick them up processed a few days later.

About $80 for standard cut in Lauderdale county. I live in Tipton and talked to a processer here and he said they are about to start charging $2 a pound before processing starting this year.

That's some cheap prices for deer processing. It's $90-100 here at the Lebanon Locker for basic processing. Been contemplating going back to doing my own.

Go try Sue's in Liberty toward Smithville...it's close to the middle of nowhere, and one of the best around.

Appreciate the heads up. I'll look into them.

Most down here are in the $200 range for a 180lb deer. OFC that's backstraps cut into steaks, vacuum sealed. Remainder ground and turned into smoked or summer sausage with 50% pork (usually around $3.99/lb).

Too rich for my blood, so I continue to process them all myself.

Who do you use? I have used deermasters on bucks that needed caping. They do a good job but at 70 bucks i process my own mostly.
