deer poop question..

Found this pile of poop near a a spot that appeared to be an area where deer have been bedding on a side of a ridge. There were other piles of deer poop clumps and piles of individual pellets. This is one of the longest clumps ive ever seen as it was close to 6" in length. Question is what makes a deer poop clump? I always thought it was based on nutrition/ available food the deer is eating.
Some will tell you deer poop that is in large clumps represent a buck vs. Doe poop which would be individual pellets. Not sure about that one though.

it correlates to the amount of fiber and dry matter in their diet. although it most animals, the presence of a prostate in the male, can have an effect on the shape of the bowel movement- an example of that would be a turkey

Diet is the biggest factor, no truth to the clump/tube always being a buck.

True. After shooting a buck this year and tracking his blood and thinking I had lost his trail in the thick woods the large amount of pellets he decided to stop and drop got me back on his trail. Guess I literally shot the s@#$ out of him. But unfortunately didn't find him.

I've seen more deer pellets than clumps on my hunting land. The clumps I see are coyote.
