I had a buddy call me Saturday asking about a metal detector. I told him I had one for sale and he was interested in it. I priced it to him for $1,000 and that was a pretty good deal for this particular one. Anyway what he asked me next caught me off guard.

"Do you want $1000 cash or would you rather have $800 cash and a Remington 700"? Hmmm. What model and caliber and how old? Brand new in the box 30.06 ADL with laminated stock. Yep I'll take the $800 and rifle :) Went out to meet him in town and boy he wasn't kidding! I'm not a 30.06 fan but I couldn't pass this one up for just $200 brand new. WOW. Usually I'm the guy hearing about deals like this instead of them falling in my lap.

Man I forgot about this post. I ain't even shot this gun yet.

The fella that traded with me...he does stuff like that all the time. He will buy brand new things and give X amount of dollars for it, and then turn around and sell it for hundreds less than what he paid for it.

Last week he had a new Springfield M1A rifle that he just got that he was trying to trade for another detector but he just sold the rifle outright.
