This may be a stupid question but I see people doing it all the time.

Is it dangerous to back your boat into the opening under the dam and fish there?

These openings I am talking about are just on the other side of the boils and not all dams have them.
If anybody has experience with this could you help me out.

if you are not a VERY experienced boater, the tailwaters are not where you want to be. they can be very tricky. i have seen several boats get in trouble below both ft. loudon and melton hill dams.

Thanks 10 point, I am an experienced boater. I can handle the currents that I can see. The question is what happens when the people are under there and the generation changes? Not much current up in the hole. Getting there is another issue because once you cross the boil the current immediately wants to push into the dam wall but once in the hole the water is calm, back to the generation question.

I have seen people do it. Then again, I have seen people anchor in the boils and tie off to the dam wall too. People do all sorts of dangerous stuff. I personally wouldn't do it.

it only takes one good air bubble (or alot of little ones) to sink a boat seen it happen was not even fun to watch
