DA,
Do you have any reccomendations on a 243 load for a kid?

My 13 yr old granddaughter hates the recoil on her Rossi 243 (knew I should have gone with a heavier rifle).

Will be shooting Hornady 100gr interlocks.

I am not DA, but make sure the weapon has a good recoil pad and then go to midway and buy her a packs recoil shield, this will help alot.

limb saver, and the packs recoil ought to emilinate all felt.

DA I'd imagine has a load worked up for his young'en that should take care of her flinch

good luck!

Sierra 85 grain Game King Boat Tail Hollow Point with a starting load of IMR 3031 ,4895 or 4064,,somewhere in the 35 gr range,,I would try 4064 first, and use whichever gave the best accuracy with the lowest charge,,

do not worry for a second about bullet performance,,I promise you it will kill a deer dead as 4 oclock,,recoil with 33-35 grs of any of the faster powders should be minimal,,

Got 4064 on my list to get, will start off with that one and see where it goes. Hornady manual has it running 29.4-34.2gr (w/ 100gr bullet), prolly start at around 30 and see how it shoots.

A well constructed 85-90 gr bullet with Varget, H4350, H4831, RL 15, or RL-19. If it were me, my 1st load to try would be an 85 gr Nosler Partition with 32 gr of RL-15. This should give you around 2800 FPS and should be very low recoil. This is a starting load in my Lyman manual. 85 gr Interbond, 90 gr Scirocco and 85 gr Barnes TSX would all be good bullet choices.
