I have a CZ 457 Varmint MTR in a wood stock. I went to put in the action screws, and I set my torque Tekton torque wrench to 30 inch pounds and verified that it was calibrated in inch pounds and that it was set to 30. I proceeded to tighten down the screws and as I start to tighten – by brain was saying that this seems way more than 30 lbs. Sure enough - the Tekton Torque had issues. My best guess is that I might have tightened the action screws to 60 or 70 inch pounds.

Is there any real possibility that I did any damage?... is there something that I can check or should look for before my next trip to the range?

I would check this piece to make sure it didn't get bent any, but a good functions check should let you know if there are any issues.
