Depends on what you want to do with it, bench or off the truck hood the varmit would be fine, to carry as a hunting gun the American is what ya need, unless the weight carrying of the bull barrle dont bother ya.
I just bought a 452 Varmint. LOVE IT! It is no where near as heavy as say a Sav.BV. It is insanely accurate. Keep in mind that it sports a 20 in barrel and that the contour is not a true American Bull barrel contour..therefore it ways less.My vote is for the Varmint...

The CZ Varmint is not heavy! Mine weighs in at 7.2 lbs scoped, sling, and that includes the steel mag loaded and Warne steel 7.3/.22 rings and a 3x9x40 Zeiss Conquest on a certified scale. If you want a 452 you better be looking and buying quickly as it has been discontinued from the CZ line. Many..myself included prefer the 452 over its replacement the 453.you will be looking at spending approx. $400 give or take a little either way for the Varmint version and slightly less for the American...you will love either one!
