Crossbow question

How long can I leave my crossbow pulled and cocked?

As long as your string doesn't stretch too much, your limbs don't warp, or your timing doesn't change, you'll be be good. My friend left his cocked for almost a full year accidentally and it still shot great.

I wouldn't think it was a good idea to leave it cocked even overnight.

If you don't have a de-cocking mechanism, a bolt back at the truck to shoot to de-chocolate chip cookie is an acceptable option.

I unstring mine in the off season. But, that's just me. I also decock my rifles. I've replaced firing pin springs every year in my match rifle and you might be surprised the length difference in old and new springs.
Why leave the limbs under stress in the off season if you don't have to?

I carry a small xbow target on the vehicle. I shoot it after every hunt to
1. Decock it
2. Be sure it's still on target

Same here. Quick, painless and easy. Just use old bolt you don't plan on needing

It's easy to uncock mine. There is a little lever to switch which allows me to take off the safety and release the trigger with the cocking string held in one hand. My brother has to put a bolt in to release the safety. Then he does the same. Soft easy release.

I have a Excalibur,easy to uncock with the rope cocker that came with it!I sure wouldnt leave it cocked all day and night,weakens the limbs!
