Really weird... we are actually picking up brand new 3.5 and 4.5yo bucks past couple days. I dont ever recall new bucks shifting in this late. They weren't on does, captured on fence crossing cameras (at night).
We often pick up older bucks in late Dec (and especially early January) that range shifted off the farms in October and are returning home... but those are bucks we know well. That's actually pretty normal for this part of Coffee County. I get a completely new round of bucks in late November into December every year. They don't stay long though.
Very interesting. I haven't pulled cards in a while (last full swap was Nov 18), so looking forward to seeing what I get when I pull cards late this week.Really weird... we are actually picking up brand new 3.5 and 4.5yo bucks past couple days. These bucks are completely new, never been seen before... and that has never happened that I can recall. Perhaps they are just bucks we missed so far this year, but I doubt it with so many cameras out.
I call those "passer thru's" here. Usually an uptick at the end of November into December here, and they may pass by only one of the many cameras I have out and we get just a couple pics. Weird thing this year is that we have not had that uptick in older bucks passing thru. One that disappeared early season hasn't returned yet either. Kind of figure he got killed. Very weird season.Yeah that's a completely different set of deer, IME. I keep pretty tight track of the bucks using my place(s) to the point of instant familiarity, but the bucks showing up around this time are usually completely random unknowns that I've never seen and generally never see again. They are someone else's resident bucks. I suspect that's what you're seeing as well but only time will tell. I doubt you missed them either. I'd bet they're brand new randos that will be transient.
