Really weird... we are actually picking up brand new 3.5 and 4.5yo bucks past couple days. I dont ever recall new bucks shifting in this late. They weren't on does, captured on fence crossing cameras (at night).

I finally got a lone doe on camera this morning. First movement on camera in 6 days.

That's actually pretty normal for this part of Coffee County. I get a completely new round of bucks in late November into December every year. They don't stay long though.

We often pick up older bucks in late Dec (and especially early January) that range shifted off the farms in October and are returning home... but those are bucks we know well.

These bucks are completely new, never been seen before... and that has never happened that I can recall. Perhaps they are just bucks we missed so far this year, but I doubt it with so many cameras out.

Very interesting. I haven't pulled cards in a while (last full swap was Nov 18), so looking forward to seeing what I get when I pull cards late this week.

I'll be VERY curious to see if I get a big surge in late November/early December. That is what I would expect from an acorn failure year.

Yeah that's a completely different set of deer, IME. I keep pretty tight track of the bucks using my place(s) to the point of instant familiarity, but the bucks showing up around this time are usually completely random unknowns that I've never seen and generally never see again. They are someone else's resident bucks. I suspect that's what you're seeing as well but only time will tell. I doubt you missed them either. I'd bet they're brand new randos that will be transient.

I call those "passer thru's" here. Usually an uptick at the end of November into December here, and they may pass by only one of the many cameras I have out and we get just a couple pics. Weird thing this year is that we have not had that uptick in older bucks passing thru. One that disappeared early season hasn't returned yet either. Kind of figure he got killed. Very weird season.

Cameras are popping off this morning. Good movement of does and a few of the boys are back in daylight.

It's been a real weird year in Rutherford County. Buck movement blew up at the end of October, like 2 days before Juvi, and continued through that weekend on some properties. To be clear it was like a 2 day window, and on some properties it was 2 days before Juvi and on others it was on the Juvi hunt weekend. Scrapes opened, rubs, bucks out during daylight cruising....then poof they were gone. I assumed they'd come back, never saw them again, while hunting or on camera.

On my property, no big bucks showed up, which is abnormal and the ones that did I saw them in daylight and passed them. On my property it was more like normal year minus the bigger bucks showing up. I see 5-6 deer per sit, but is all 2 yr oud 8 pts, spikes, 3 pts, etc. I had one bigger 6 pt show up (maybe 3.5 yr old) but I missed him at 200 yds. Lifted my head up as i pulled the trigger and shot over his back. Normally I get at least 2-3 3.5+ yr old deer, this year maybe just the one and he may not be that old.

On the properties where this early spike in activity occurred, it is basically a ghost town for deer. On my property is is now just 1.5 yr old and yearling bucks, does and fawns. I am hoping the second rut kicks in and maybe something just randomly shows up.
