Sounds exactly what I've been dealing with even with the coyotes picking up past week.
I have been hunting this place for 20 years and have never seen it like this. I have not seen a single doe from the stand, which is absolutely baffling.
I am at the foot of the mountain. I didn't even see a bird today.

I am really starting to wonder if EHD hit the farm hard. It is surrounded by the river, so they could have gone there and died and never been seen because they would wash downstream.
That's possible, we have a good creek and pond on our property. I found a carcass late summer at the pond edge but couldn't tell if it died naturally or POS shot it from the road because a deer would never know you were near if pulled off of the road and shooting down at the pond.
Agreed.
We saw the opposite. Acorns were everywhere, yet deer were living in the plots, at least until mid-November. Now, even the plots are slow.
This describes our experience as well. It has been dead until Friday 28th and Saturday 29th...We saw a considerable uptick in daytime activity. Bucks crusing and working scrapes. Multiple doe groups feeding....completely different experience than the previous two weeks.
Look forward to checking my cams. Last year, with the acorn failure, rut didn't peak until Nov 28 to Dec 1. I said earlier this year that this year's patterns looked closer to an acorn failure than a good acorn year. We shall see.
