How far do you space them when you plant them and have you used tree tubes with them?

15 feet at least id say,I would use the tubes
15-20ft is good, depending on the variety. For Southern Crabapples or Sargent, they can be planted closer if you want them to form a thicket. For Dolgo and Transcendents though I like to space them where they will have room to develop a good crown. As for tube or not, Sargent, Transcendents, and Dolgos seem to do well in tubes. Southern's would be better off caged though in my opinion due to their low spread characteristics. If you tube them, either get vented tubes or drill holes in the tubes you have. This helps cut down on disease in your crabapples.

Thanks Steven. I have Southern so I think I will go caged. You think 10ft spacing is good?
Yea if you dont mind them growing together.
