This may sound stupid but here I go.What do I look for when scouting a set to hunt from?I've seen scat and paw prints but how long does this sign stay huntable? Are yotes creatures of habit?

good question, i know very little about but from what ive seen around here they hang pretty close to the same territory, i think[someone else will tell us]they set up a home range like other critters as long as they have food

its hard to "scout" for coyotes. they can be anywhere at anytime. i have dozens of dens on my place. actually just found a few more saturday that i never knew were there. ive never even called in a coyote on my place with a call, ive always just seen them while deer hunting and killed them.

Coyotes may make a route that is several days long. When hunting with calls, set up and call for 15-20 minutes and then move further than you think they can hear you. Make another set up and call again. Keep repeating. If they hear you, it generally does not take them long to show up.

If there in the area they will come to the call just set up with the sun to your back in the shadows and wind in your face is ideal, they are just like bucks they work the wind ;)
