covers are crimped

probably going back to winter oat nurse crop and crimson clover. cereal rye matures too late and have to crimp 3 times. deer mowed it down but came back this spring. used a little round up around the perimeter. first time ive have to use it.

transplanted my tomatoes and peppers. will plant the summer seeds this week after it dries up a bit.

i used some repurposed cat 5e cable for the rope, lol. step about 6" and crimp, repeat. i thought about finding an old metal soil seed packer and welding some angle iron on and pulling it behind my lawn tractor. itd be pretty easy then.

Gotcha! I'd get some more comfortable shoes on for that type of work 🤣. Yeah everything I've read is the timing of the crimping is key. When you squeeze the seed head and white comes out, that's when you crimp - the "milk stage". Ours was in the milk stage last weekend. I just need a crimper🤣

lol yeah even with a good pair of boots on you feel it the next day.

another advantage with the natural mulch, holds water longer. onky had a shower after i planted. been dry for a week and a half and everything is coming ip nicely.
