I was gifted these rifles by the widow of a friend in Memphis. He was a doctor and loved to hunt and fish, especially turkey hunt.
He purchased these rifles new in 1977. They originally had Mannlicher 4 power scopes mounted but I removed them and added other scopes. The Model L is chambered in 22-250 and has been fired less than 25 times. Has the double set triggers. He took it on a prairie dog hunt out west and said he fired it maybe 10 times. I put 7 rounds down the pipe when I put the Nikon scope on it. I need to shoot it more than I do.

The Model M Luxus is chambered in 30.06 and I've killed several deer with it. I take it out at least once every deer season. The craftsmanship on these rifles is amazing. European Walnut stocks and detachable magazines.
Both barrels are cold hammer peened and have a beautiful hammered texture. Fit and finish are second to none.

Anyway...a couple of 55 year old Steyr-Mannlicher rifles not often seen.

I have a Mannlicher MC in 243 with double triggers and some kind of funky tip off scope mounts.
I'll try get it out and get some pics when I get home.
Supposedly a guy in the military was stationed in Germany in the early 60s and bought it over there and brought it home with him.

Beautiful rifles!

Derailment in 3,2....1

"Man-licker"??? I know it's German, but c'mon guys. Are we just going to let this fly by without any 12 year old comments??? 😂 😂
🤣 🤣

We have a good friend who is German and immigrated here in the early 1990's.

I asked her how to pronounce it and she said it's pronounced "Mon leech tah" you dummkopf. LoL
She actually said it was hard to translate to English, it's so guttural. German is kind of a f'd up language anyway even though this is Austrian, pretty much the same.

I've heard it pronounced about a dozen different ways.

My Mom speaks fluent German. I'm going to ask her.

I asked my son if he'd like to learn German and his reply "No, I want to learn Australian" 😂 😂 MY BOY!!
