At the beginning of this season, she told me not to be killing any young deer. A member on our lease killed a button buck and didn't want it because it had a couple of skin lesions (sarcoids). I told him the meat would be fine, but he was adamant about not using it so he gave it to me.
I grilled the backstraps and my wife told me it was the best deer she'd ever had and I should get more like that. I gave her no information about the deer's age or the sarcoids....:)

If someone is having a bad season, wants the meat, and hasn't had any opportunity to kill any deer and those 2 deer walked by... boom! If they've already made a couple of kills then I don't really see the point. I've killed and eaten very young deer and they are tender....all 4 bites. I'll opt for more meat for my effort. If it makes you happy one way or the other, grin on brother.
