So I got a cop buddy that is really burned out these days. We used to do stuff in the woods & water together when we were in middle and high school.

I want to drag him out to the Clinch to fish so he can unwind..and hopefully have a good new/resumed hobby. I'm a fly snob....Don't know much about spin fishing the Clinch.

What should I get him to throw on a spinning rig? I see guys consistently hooking with spin gear in the giant pool at the Miller Island boat ramp....

Thanks!

small jerk baits. Most of the big trout I have landed have fell to a lucky craft pointer 78 in american shad color. We have also had some good luck on the rapala and yo zuri jerk baits. bright shiny silver on sunny days and gold colors on cloudy days. I have also caught a ton on the old #1 mepps spinner with no hair in both gold and silver. 4-6lb mono in lo viz green.

As mentioned, 3-4" jerk baits are my first choice, something silver, gold or trout patterned. Roostertails or Little Cleo's are another option.
