I will be working on my bow and reloading ammo for the first time this year. I want to buy a chronograph to measure arrow and bullet speed as I tinker with my bow and work up new rifle loads. I'm willing to pay a little more for a quality one that is consistently accurate and well made. Any suggestions?

I use a Chrnoy Beta master & am pleased with all performance aspects. Wish I had the money to buy one that downloaded results to a thumb drive or SDC chip.

Get a tripod you can secure so it won't tip over in the wind. The shades tend to catch the wind.

Paint the shade legs some visible color and be sure you find the left and right legs before you shoot. Trust me.

You can also make "flags" out of masking tape that stick out to the sides making it even more visible

I keep telling every body a chronograph causes more questions than answers.

i strongly disagree

i have found it as a great help

like the time at cheatham range a fella was having hell getting his ml sighted in 6 inches here 7 inches there

so we ran it thru a chrony

650 fps
790 fps
900 fps

when he should of been around 1800 easy

bad powder

borrowed some of mine no issues

or 2 years ago before ml my bud opened a brand new lb of a5744 and had all sorts of issues
i get my chrony 700 fps we try my h4198 2390 fps good groups

i even loaded that powder in some 223 rds still couldnt get crap for speed

a bad batch of powder

long range shooting its a must

if it is cloudy i dont even use the shades

Sorry you didn't understand I was having a little fun. I was JOKING.

Yep DA, its a fact. When you own a chronograph, you will shoot it. No shame for doing so, Great Success if you haven't done it yet but don't get toooooooo happy. Everyone shoots their chrony.

If they didn't why do you think they keep making and selling them?

This is why getting one of the very pricey ones doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You will shoot it. It will die. You will get a new one.
