Ive had 2 people in the last week tell me not to waste my time planting cauliflower and broccoli because the bugs will get them? Are they really that bad and if so what is the solution?

I've grown both here in Cumberland county without any trouble with bugs. The bugs/worms usually get my cabbage though. Its time to get those plants in the ground right now.

I baught some to today. going to plant them tomorrow.

Cabbage loopers are the worst problem. BT (Dipel), Bacillus thurengiensis, is a biological control you can spray on plants and works well. Non-chemical, no pre-harvest interval. The bacteria gets in the gut of the loopers and makes them sick. When you see little white butterflies flitting about get ready, they will lay eggs soon!

There are several different Brands of BT. JUst about any place that sales garden supplies sells BT in a liquid or powder .Good stuff for most plant eaters.
