Just saw on the news that there is another Catfish advisory for Cheatham Lake in Davidson and Cheatham counties. PCB levels are high. I think that this advisory has been going off and on for years. Said it was ok to eat one fish per month.

These things make me mad. Government health gurus say they are advising the public as "a courtesy." However on numerous lakes with health advisories, commercial fishing is allowed. Commercial fishermen take out tons of catfish and sell them annually. Yet there is absolutely NO REQUIREMENT that they tell buyers (including children and pregnant women) that there are health advisories where those fish were caught.

If there is an honest-to-goodness health concern, they should be required to report the information to ALL consumers, not just the few sport fishermen who actually read signs.

Rather than truly protecting public health, I consider it simply fear-mongering. Climbing down from my soapbox now.
