Great looking cat. I've been wanting to try the 5 gallon bucket/ box traps for cats. My question is it legal system in Tennessee??

Here in KY we can use a 7.5" (220) for dry land set on private only. Larger size has to be water sets and I believe completely under water. Thanks

Regs address "live" box traps but not "kill" box traps that I can find. Also only trap on my private property. The closest statement I've seen about "lethal" ones is below:

9. Lethal sets such as instant kill traps and waterset ("drowning") traps must be inspected every seventy-two (72) hours. All other traps must be inspected every thirty-six (36) hours and any wildlife caught in the traps shall be removed.

Not sure what that means . If relative to trigger, I set on bottom & bent them 90 degrees to the rear with a little flare out to each side.

I'm hoping to get all my traps reset this weekend. Our season goes out the 28th and it's been 2 weeks since I've been able to set anything because of how wet it is.

For ground sets adjacent to waterways and no more than fifty (50) feet from the shoreline, a trapper may use a 110-body grip trap, or its equivalent, with a maximum exterior jaw measurement of six (6) inches wide by six (6) inches tall. Such a trap shall be a single-spring trap with a factory spring designated for that trap. The lowest point of the trap closest to the ground shall be no more than one-half (1/2) inch above the surface of the ground. The trap shall be used as a non-baited or lured set unless it is set at a minimum of twelve (12) inches inside a hole, den, or cubby.

Yep!! I've read those regs 10 times. Just not clear in my pee size brain

What I don't understand about the body grip law it says a trapper may use a 110-body grip trap, or its equivalent, with a maximum exterior jaw measurement of six (6) inches wide by six (6) inches tall. A 110 has a jaw spread of 4 1/2 x 4 1/2" . If I read that right you could use a 150 Super X Belisle Single Spring Body Grip Trap has a 6" jaw spread. Does anyone see the same thing?

First time getting a catch over a cam
era. I really have only had a camera over a trap once last year and didn't get anything. It really shows a lot of how the pull, bite and everything else trying to get out. It looks like a deep catch so hopefully he's still there when I go take care of it this afternoon.

They're cleaning out holes in the barn and digging new ones like crazy so traps went in the ground. Heard one chirping while I was setting. Went and walked a little thicket for sheds and came back to one already caught.
