Nice rifles. I wound up trading for one kinda by accident and really love it. Killed two deer with it this past season with Remington express core-lokts and the only problem is you can pretty much write off the offside shoulder if you hit it, lotsa meat damage. I think it would be great for big mulies or elk though, and I'm sure the Barnes bullets will hold together better than the core-lokts.
The buck I shot at about 50-60 yds I found little pieces of lead and copper while dressing him and looked like a small bomb went off in him. The doe I shot at 225 yds got a nice clean pass through and no sign of bullet fragging, but it still jellied the offside shoulder. Both dropped in their tracks.
I've already got in some Barnes 130 gr TTSX bullets I hope to use out west, but haven't had a chance to work up loads yet.
I'll always be a .243 fan, but this A-bolt 270 WSM has been lots of fun. It's a goodun. Nice light rifle to carry around and I swear it kicks less than my .30-06.
