I hate to say this, but do you know how I "calibrate" my sprayer? Knowing I want to use 20 gallons of glysophate mix per acre, I spray one of my one-acre plots. If I used less than 20 gallons, I slow down. If I use more than 20 gallons, I speed up!
Haha I do the same. If I'm spraying a 1acre field with 2 quarts of gly, I'll use the whole tank and drive slow. If I'm spraying a 2 acre field, I'll put 4 quarts and drive fast

Sprayer calibration is the most important thing you can do if spraying. Takes only a few minutes to do. It is simple. Calibrate and use the correct rates will really help with plants becoming resistant to chemicals. Re Calibrate occasionally as needed.
If using a tractor, it is simple. The methods mentioned are great.
My main tractor at 2nd gear, 1600 rpm, puts out 13 gallons of water. Change gears to 3rd and 1600 rpm, puts out 9 gallons of water. Speed difference is less than 2 mph. If I change rpm to 2200 rpm, 2nd gear output increases to 17 gallons of water. Eyeballing is not good enough when spraying certain chemicals in higher concentration. Spraying escort at 2 oz per acre and you go over it twice is a disaster.

If using an atv or utv....more difficult because it is really hard to control speed accurately and consistently.
Pressure regulator is your friend to help.

The video by msu deer lab is my favorite. Get your 100yd time in sec at your desired speed mine is 4.5mph at 2200rpm, multiple that by total Nozzle output for one min and multiple all that by 0.018905 take your total for that and divide it by your total spray width mine is 22ft so i put out 16.5gpa.the equation looks like this. (100 yard Tim in sec) x (total nozzle output for 1min in oz) x 0.018905 divide by your total spray width then you have your gpa
