I have a Bushnell scope marked Banner 3x-9x Wide Angle that is missing the elevation cap.

Some research has led me to believe that the cap should be a bullet drop compensation knob, but the scope has only a single reticle. Most of the ones I've seen online have a duplex reticle.

Does anyone know where I can get a calibration knob? Do I even need a calibration knob if I only have a single reticle? Did Bushnell make this scope with a single reticle, or is it broken?

Technically every elevation adjustment is a bullet drop compensation knob. I'm not totally sure on this, but the banner is a bit of low end scope in the line I'm not sure they made one with the capabilities I think your talking about. I could be wrong though, they make a ton of scopes.

I actually like the ones made in Japan, nice glass for the money.

You can email or call bushnell customer service, if the part is available they will more than likely sell you one. You did say though that yours did not have the dual reticle correct?

Also if I'm reading your post correctly I think you have "duplex" and "dual" confused. Most scopes have a duplex reticle, this is much different from a dual horizontal reticle.

Yes Bushnell made scopes like that. I have two that were bought in the 1970's.

Mine have various rings that are calibrated to different velocities which you change to match what you are shooting.
There should be a window in the turrent that you could see
the change in yardage as you changed it.

There was also a blank ring for use when none of the ones provided matched your velocity that you could put yarded on to
match what you were shooting.

The screw that went in the top and tha was yoused to change
yarded did not last wery long. I had to modify mine with metal
screws.

Hope I explained this to where you can understand.

Other than Bushnell, I dont know where to get these parts.

Thanks for the quick replies, very helpful. Sorry for the mistake in wording. I did mean dual or multi-x instead of duplex.

I haven't contacted bushnell yet because I read some posts in other forums that said bushnell did not carry parts for scopes older than five years, and they attempted to sell the customer a new scope at cost while keeping the old one. Of course that's hearsay.

I sent them a tasco world class (found out bushnell owns tasco) with a spot in the lens and quickly received a brand new one at no charge, so I guess I'll try them again.

I do really like this scope, and I have a feeling that the glass is better than what I would get out of a new one. So, I may just find a cap that slides on and call it a win.

[font:Comic Sans MS]I had one like that years ago, a Tasco. Seems like when you lay the gun across your lap, pick it back up and Bullet Drop Compensator dial would be on 300 or 400 yards. Didn't have any way to lock it. Frustrating and it became a yard sale item.

Not Totally Hearsay- I contacted them about about an older 22 scope my uncle has one that usses a double grooved mount instead of rings, the scope came with the mount btw, his mouunt was broke.

Called and sent letter about seeing if they had the mount was told.. We could send it back and they would try to match it up.. that the repair depatment keeps some parts form returned scopes that are still good to use some where else, esp older ones. At worst if they didn't have the mount (repair parts) they would offer a new scope at far better price than retail.

I would at least give there repair/parts line a call.

Yes Bushnell made scopes like that, I have SEVERAL that were bought in the 1970's.I would at least give there repair/parts line a try. The new scopes have better coating on the glass but the old glass was goood yep. Maybe they can recoat the lens and fix the turret on the scope also ask them to do that , nothing ventured nothing gained ya know.

I also noticed that the left side of the crosshairs look odd, but only at certain angles. When you hold the scope straight, it looks fine. But, when you change the angle that you look in the scope the left side of the horizontal crosshair where it narrows to the center looks detatched.

If the scope was mounted, I'm not sure you could change the angle anyway.

It looks similar to the picture below if you can imagine the left side as the thick portion of the horizontal crosshair:

------------>____|____

Could the crosshair be broken, or would it be much more obvious that it were?
