Looks like the fsrm i hunt has a ton of mast this year, but most notable is the beechnut trees are loaded. I can't for the life of me remember when they fall. I have rarely considered hunting them as they usually fall at once and every critter runs thru like a vacuum and they're gone. This season, I think they might last a few days as many as there are. Does anyone know what month they drop in East Tennessee ? Seemingly the internet says it is dependent on a lot of factors.
 
Well, it looks as if my year will be a bust. I have too much mast, beechnut, white and red oaks, and the woods are too green and the only thing hitting bait sites, (for cams, not hunting), have been coons and different bears. I did manage a pic of a doe and 2 young bucks before the bears took over and they left the country.

Don't be discouraged. Deer will be healthy and active heading into winter. My prediction is this will be an outstanding rut year in terms of sign and cruising. If you're having to wonder where all the deer are then so are other deer. Bucks won't be able to find all the does huddled around the one skimpy food source. They'll have to make the rounds to search every nook and cranny, which means they'll be visible. And they'll have the energy to do it. That's a good thing for us.
