Heard a slight crackling in the weeds in front of me, thought it was a bird, till this pair of eyes showed up 10 feet away. I could not reach for the camcorder without being seen, so I hit record on my iPhone and took this video. You can see it sinking back into the weeds slowly when it realized something was looking back at it.

I bet that cat thought you were one huge squirrel as he got close enough to get a good look at what he was really stalking! :)

Cool encounter, I absolutely love watching them when they are hunting, nothing moves more silently on 4 legs. They will utilize every tiny branch laying on the dry leaves to move without making a sound. I actually saw one catch a squirrel in Illinois a few years back and it was amazing how fast they can move.
