Boat title ???

Thinking about selling a 1436 jon boat and motor we have.

Someone asked if we had the title to the boat and motor.

Never heard of such?
I thought you just carried a bill of sale to the clerk, registered it and you were good to go?
I never remember getting or even seeing a title for my fishing boat or the brand new motor I bought for it?

Tennessee is a non titling state.

I just bought a used john boat last week. Took bill of sale to clerk. Only problem I had was that it wasn't notarized. Got it notarized....heading back to clerk later in week....she said nothing about needing a title....
