I have been really struggling the last few weeks on not pulling the trigger on an Elite Impulse 34. I shot one at Avery outdoors and it is absolutely fantastic. However, after I rig it out I am looking at well over $1000 and I just don't bow hunt enough to really justify it. Anyway I took my current hunting rig, a Mathews Reezen, out and shot it over the weekend and it cured me at least for now. I couldn't possibly shoot the Elite any more accurately than the Reezen, and with similar IBO speeds there is no real appreciable difference. It came down to, am I okay shooting a 7 year old bow and for now, the answer is yes.

Myself, I think bow technology has come about as far as it can. I see no reason to upgrade every year or ever few years for that matter like people do other than just wanting to. Which is perfectly fine. I'm just glad I got out of that phase.

I agree. With an IBO of around 340 fps, the Reezen is still faster than a large majority of the bows made today.

I have the Reezen also and there is no reason to upgrade. Keep what you have...IMO

With the way I shot this weekend at the 3D shoot, I need to buy another Reezen as a backup in case mine ever breaks. I truly believe it is one of the best Bows Mathews ever made.

I loved my Reezen but absolutely hated the draw cycle and so did my shoulders.

I shot at 68 lbs.with my Z7 Magnum but when I bought the Reezen, I bought it with 65 lb limbs and turned them out to about 61 lbs. I shoot it much more accurately at the lower weight and it still has plenty of speed.

I bought a used switchback xt several years ago. It still had the factory string. I am going to have a new new custom string installed and keep on shooting it. It will kill a deer dead just like a new $1000 set up. That would be my reason.
