Where is the best place to buy oats for food plot. Thanks
I called them last week and they said they do not sell to the public, said I would have to go through one of their dealers.Call Turner Seed in LaVergne and see if they have them. That's where we get out seeds.
Didn't realize that. Guess you've gotta know somebody then.I called them last week and they said they do not sell to the public, said I would have to go through one of their dealers.
Is that Barbara Bush?
Got a link for these?Costs a bit more but you can get Oats on Amazon for a dollar a lb delivered ($25/25lb). If your coop is like mine, there's no guarantee they fill your order, so its good to have a back up. I ordered buckwheat 3 weeks ago and now its too late to plant it even if it came in.

Guess I need to make a run to TSC and see if they have any. Thanks for the info.https://a.co/d/gJpdVCl
You can get 50/lb for $30 at tractor supply if you have one near you but ours is sold out.
You can check online. I have to run to ours today and buy some seed. Our coop doesn't have what I need so I've already been digging through what they have in stock in Maryville. Might save you a trip.Guess I need to make a run to TSC and see if they have any. Thanks for the info.

I planted those last year and they did great. I would check coop as well.
No, wheat is a better draw and lasts through the winter. I planted oats and wheat last year. You guys like oats better than wheat?
I couldn't find wheat so I'm going to buy some of this (wheat mix) and add some left over crimson I have. I'm considering grabbing a bag of oats to spread over it, as well, since I'm broadcasting and unsure how well the mix will perform. Hopefully sometime next month I can overseed some wheat if I can get my hands on some seed. No, wheat is a better draw and lasts through the winter. I planted oats and wheat last year.

Grabbed me a bag of this yesterday. Now just waiting on some rain in the forecast, which might be October.
I've been having terrible luck planting in October. October is the driest month here in south central KY. September has work 50% of the time. This year decided to try August. I know not the right time but decided to try and catch those afternoon pop-up thunderstorms. Two 1 acre food plots. They were fallow so bush hogged short. Spread Pelletized lime. Spread 10-10-10 cause I already had. Disked. And my disk has a I-beam which smooths. Broadcast those forage oats. Disked very shallow to bury oats. Ran cultipacker over. Broadcast mossy oaks clover plot. Broadcast a mixed blend of brassicas clover chicory and turnips. Ran cultipacker over again. Was planted August 11th. Soil was moist from plots being fallow. Missed rain that week but oats popped up. Next week got 1/2" one day 1/4" three days later. Oats kept growing and next week got 1/4" of rain. No rain this week supposed to get rain next Monday and Tuesday. Seeing some clover and chicory just starting. Oats are 4 to 5 inches. Come on rain.Grabbed me a bag of this yesterday. Now just waiting on some rain in the forecast, which might be October.
