I am taking these 2 guns to wyoming for my mule deer hunt. I want to put new scopes on one or both of them. I may be shooting a little past 150.

Burris Fullfield II 2-7X36 with Ballistic Reticle. Lighweight, plenty of power, better clarity than low-end Leupold. The Ballistic Plex comes in handy for those 150 yard shots.

If the $150 tag of the Burris is too high for your budget, get the RedHead 2-7X33 (I think that's the diameter) Epic.

I have these two scopes, plus a Leupold VXI and a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9X40 for comparisons, and I like these two for my ML.

On the lower end of the price scale, check out the Bushnell Banner scopes.
Never had ANY trouble with them and they are VERY reasonably priced.

If I was driving all the way to Wyoming, you can bet I wouldn't settle for cheap optics. Leupold VX-3's are a little pricey but they are worth the investment.

x2

1 leupold would cost more than my tag and lease combined.

Non-resident Wyoming deer tags look to be $326- not counting lease dollars.

A VX-III 2.5x8 was advertised on here a while back for $325.

...just saying

I'll take it. I looked at the new prices on the net and they ranged between 500-800. If another deal pops up please let me know.

I don't know what power scope you are looking at but you can get a new VX-3 2.5 -8x36 for $399 or a 3.5-10x40 for $469.

Yep. And find you a Cabela's code and take even more off that.

I got a new 3.5x10x40 VX-3 with CDS from Cabela's for $425 - with free shipping and a lens pen.

It rivals one of my MK4's in clarity and tracking. Awesome scope for the money.

HH and EWC are right. I would not go all the way out there with bottom tier optics. Even though the bottom tier optics work, and work well, I would want to take a chance at a possible hunt of a lifetime with cheap optics.

it dosnt matter the scope you choose, ive seen you shoot before! spend the extra on a leupold it will be worth it in the long run.

I still may be able to get you a tag.... Seriously, I do need to come over and shoot.

I'm not familiar with the Ultimate Slam model, but it better be pretty much equivalent to the VX-III at that price. My Burris is better than my Leupold VX-I, and equivalent to the VX-II for less money than the VX-I. If you can get the equivalent of a VX-III for $260, I'd go for it. But a choice between the Burris for $150 (that's what I paid last year from Cabela's) or a VX-II for $260, I'd still get the Burris.

But in any case, I'm a big fan of the 2-7 vs. the 3-9, especially in a ML scope.

VX-3 (newest version) 3.5x10x40 matte for $425 on 24hr right now...

decent deal.

i have the ultimateslam on my long range hunter and i love it for the money you will be well satisfied.

I know that hunting shows are a big commercial, with that said I saw jim Shockey using this scope last night and I was quite impressed and he had high praise for it. I am leaning this way. If I get this scope I can get 2 of them for close to 500.

I have to go back to the Nikon Prostaff as my most recommended mid-price scope. There are better, but there are alot worse to pick from.

I was so disappointed with the Nikon with the BDC reticle. Save your money and buy a used Leupold VX1. The best money that I have EVER spent on glass.

Nikon Omega BDC 3x9x40. $250 brand new. I recently purchase one for my Encore and this scope is setup for a 250gr bullet and 150 gms powder and it will reach out to 250 years. Pretty accurate, if I say so. Was a Gander Mountain two weeks ago and they had a Customer Appreciation Week, picked up another Omega in Camo for 50% off at $125. Put this on a CVA Optima Elite 270 and this thing will work out to 400 yards on this rifle. If you look online you may be able to pick one up for $200. If you know anyone that would be interested in a Black Diamond with a T/C 3x9x40 muzzeloader scope and rings with the full camo stock, I have one for sell at a real good price.

I have a omega also, I bought a Lupy VX-11 2-7x32 with the LR reticle. zeroed at 100yds, second dot down is real close to dead on at 200yds on the 7 setting. 100 gr loose 777 under a 300 gr TC shockwave. I Love it.
