Purchased a used benelli lupo around Christmas time to get customized and fit for my son to shoot (and me if we are being honest) Purchased it in 6.5 PRC with a 24" barrel. Had it cerekoted and stock dipped (posted pictures on here I think after I did) and then got a Dead Air Nomad TI xc to suppress it. I already own a bergara 6.5PRC with an 18" barrel I really like so I had a few ammo options already to start with.
Fit and Finish
I REALLY like the feel of the gun personally. It fits me REALLY well on the shoulder and I love the thinner forend that has slots your fingers just fall into. The gun is built on a chassi system so its more of a 2 piece stock with the barrel bedded to an alloy receiver which helps with accuracy and isn't impacted by elements. The stock itself is still a polymer stock so it has some flex to it but not as much as cheaper made ones and it being 2 different pieces adds to the stiffness. The recoil pad and benelli designed recoil system in the butt stock is really nice and seems to work really well, granted Im shooting it on a PRC suppressed so its not likes it a lot of recoil to start with.
Comes with shims to customize the fit to you, as well as it uses the same cheek mount inserts that their shotguns use so you can change them out to get more or less cheek rise pretty easy. I swapped mine to the MID rise comb.
One thing i DONT like is it has integrated sling mounts in the plastic. For a gun this price just seems they cheaped out vs putting steel studs in it or quick release mounts. Not a deal breaker but just one thing I found silly on their part
Bolt/Safety and Trigger
Bolt and 60degree throw are very smooth. Not as glass like compared to my Bergara but it slides with ease with no slop or play in it. Easy to remove bolt and put back in with side release button. Its kinda hard to explain though, it feels great and smooth but for example if you open the bolt and point the gun up the bolt doesnt just slide down without a touch to get it moving, but when actually working it dry or after firing it feels really good.
Trigger on the gun is adjustable and I absolutely love it. Has good feel to it and zero creep, mine breaks easy around 2.5lbs. I catch myself here and there while shooting almost having the gun go off to soon because the trigger is so clean and light
Safety is a 2 stage tag safety but is raised so you can easily feel it and slide it up or down. Has a audible click in moving it as well. I prefer tag safeties and really like the raised part of it vs the sliding plastic ones I have on others.
Accuracy
Man this may be the best shooting rifle I have owned to date. Topped it with a Burris Veracity PH 3-15x44 and it just shoots lights out. Ran 140g Accubonds, 140g Remington Speer Impact, 143g Norma Bondstrikes down it so far and all 3 shot sub MOA groups with ease (all factory loads) and ill post some pics in a little while. Gun FOR SURE shoots better than I can shoot consistently at this point.
Side note - also comes with a 10 year warranty
Im a huge benelli fan when it comes to shotguns and thought Id give their rifle a try after seeing some reviews about them. Wanted to try something different vs the standard rifle offerings and man I was not disappointed. The chassi system really seems to help the gun and really makes it FUN to shoot. I have found myself going more and more to just send some rounds down range since getting it.
If your in the market for a great shooting rifle that looks and feels slightly different then the norm I highly suggest just taking a look at the Lupo as an option. I have seen them new for under $1k and used under $900
