Alabama and Tennessee kick off conference play today. Hopefully it'll be a good first sec opener for the new coach Rob Vaughn. I like what I've seen from this team so far but the competition steps up today. Tennessee looks to have another really good team. Hopefully playing at The Joe will make the difference.
I tried to get the wife to go to the Saturday game but we got other things going on this weekend.
 
Aj Russell isn't starting for UT today which should help bama some. Causey has been tough so far though. We will see what each team is against quality sec pitching. That's the biggest question I have as both teams have really hit well. It's one thing to hit bad pitching but a whole other to do it against the best in the nation
 
Yeah Causey strikes out the side, just a couple solo shots sandwiched in between lol.

Weather may play a factor this weekend according to one of the UT guys.

Should be a good series, both squads been playing well but now it gets real with SEC play
 
I watched the early innings. It's the first time I've seen them. Impressive start.

I had forgotten that we started last year like 4-14 in league play.

I wonder if last year they had some locker room issues with Ahuna or something?
 
Bama takes game 2. I can't name the Tennessee pitcher but he pitched great toward the end of the game. It's been a fun series so far. Looking forward to game 3.

Our most veteran arm starter wise. Not the most electric stuff but usually really good at getting guys out. Even though he'll get the L, the fact he settled in & saved our bullpen arms hopefully will payoff tomorrow.
I love SEC Baseball on Sunday afternoons, hope we get the bats going again in the rubber match

Drew Beam. First 3 innings hurt but he pitched great after that through 8. Bama played better and deserved it. Rubber match tomorrow.
 
A sweep on the 1st conference series would have been great, VOLs take it today for series win be great to. Since its against Bama and at Bama series win will be excellent!!!
 
Tennessee got the bats swinging I. The top of the third. Bama better get some bats swinging in the bottom. RTR!
 
Bama hit a 3run shot in the bottom of the 8th to take the lead. Then held of Tennessee after loading the bases it the top of the 9th.
What a fun series. The way rivalries are supposed to be.
Bama takes the series! RTR!
 
Watched the first 4 or 5 innings. Sounds like a good game.

The SEC is loaded, which will make for a fun spring.

Snead was at 60 something pitches when that shot went to the wall and was caught right before the HR. No way I let him throw another pitch. I don't know what TV was thinking. I saw what was coming and I'm not an elite baseball coach.

I came inside right after UT took a 5-4 lead and watched the 8th and 9th. That was an absolute bomb and no doubt about it as soon as he hit it. Vols had their shot by loading the bases in the 9th and getting within 1 but too little too late. Congrats to Bama on the series win.

I couldn't believe he left him either. Anderson went out and talked to him and I was saying pull him. Oh well there's a reason TV is making 1.5 mil and we're telling him what to do. 😂

I'd put it on Frank Anderson more than TV but your point still stands.
I planned on watching or listening to the whole game but yugo happened and I got tuned in for the 5th.
If I'm not mistaken Frank went out right before the HR and I thought for sure they were bringing somebody in, but there you go…Great chance to get the lead back in the 9th but the plate discipline was abysmal. Better strap in it doesn't get any easier in this league.
