Posted in general forum too. Went to our property with dad yesterday and found this yearling 8 pt in one of our fields. Laying about 20 yards from the property line. Head, spinal cord and ribs still intact. Last couple of ribs busted up like bullet had hit them but who knows. Wish he'd had made it. One of the first yearling 8pts we had seen.

You Never Forget the Smell!

Have been meaning to post this image of what was a nice 8 point. Out roaming around my lease, picked up a aroma that you never forget. No question a road kill, the pic doesn't show the back half. The yoties ate well  on the remains. Talk about "stink to high heaven". He was an old guy. :(

Re: You Never Forget the Smell!

Blue water buck, I too found an 8 point skull similar to yours Saturday on our property. The rest of the deer was gone but the antlers were intact. We didn't lose a shot deer in the area so we aren't sure of the cause of death.

Re: You Never Forget the Smell!

I found a deer with sawed off head on my farm a couple years back. Some scoundrel had obviously tresspassed and killed a decent buck and had the foresight to bring a saw with him. Nothing was taken but the head. Frustrating to say the least.
