Backstraps are on the outside of the deer and tenderloins are on the inside of the deer. Dont forget to cut those tenderloins out.

I always take em out, except for one doe that I forgot to and one buck that was partial gut shot and sat overnight.
 
lol,,, the funny is it took me several years (of living in TN) to stop calling the backstraps the tenderloins. I spent my 1st 19 years up north where they called the tenderloins "sweetmeat" and the backstraps "tenderloin".
There is also a smaller set of tenderloin far up in the chest cavity that is worth getting. <---Thanks to whoever posted that info here on tndeer!

Yep, we call those the superloins. They are just a few bites of meat, but they are worth it.

Also if you are comparing cuts of meet the back strap is a loin compared to the rib-eye or lip on loin. This is the meet they use for prime rib. We had some both loin and tender loin last night. A great way of cooking the tenderloin is also marinating in teriyaki sauce for a few days and just fry it. Makes for the tenderest chislic.
 
Im from NC and we call them tenderloin and innerloin. I think that came about because everyone giving someone meat says its the tenderloins.
