atv problem

i have a problem and can't figure out what it is, it starts up fine when i leave it in neutral and turn it off, but when i put it in 1st and say it go dead from not warming up, i put it back in neutral and try to start it up again it won't turn over it just clicks , unless i get off and push it and change gears with my hand, then then get back on it start it up.

You have a loose connection or a wire rubbing somewhere near the shift linkage.

The nuetral safety switch would not allow the starter to "click" if it is in gear, it would be totally dead.

I will be you take the seat off and you will find your problem.

thanks i still havent found it yet, i can use by the pull rope just find but thanks alot for the info

Well, if it will start by pull rope..............sounds like you have a weak or bad battery or still a poor connection.

on some models there is a bunch of wires that junction together underneath the seat, look for these and see if over time some corroding might be causing the problem, it happened to mine about 5 years ago
