I grew up with them in S. AL and we would declare war on them outside of regular hunting seasons. Not that smart but tough. Had more than one take off with an arrow in it's shell. Supposedly made a dent in our turkey population. then one year they just disappeared. Not a single one for several years.
Found them on my place in Lincoln, Co. about 5 or 6 years ago. First sign was a big yellow jacket nest dug out of the ground. Was happy about that. Then some big fire ant nests were raided. Again, happy about that. But now they are ripping my yard apart and I'm afraid of them raiding turkey nests. Will have to break out the M-rod very soon...
