I am on an automatic e-mail from Ruger that sends out e-mails of any new items being introduced. They have come out with a Ruger Scout rifle that has a 10 round detachable magazine in 308. It has a laminated stock and is bolt action. sweet looking rifle. Someone PM me with their e-mail address and I will forward them the e-mail, and maybe someone can post it on here.

I am fonf of the Ruger bolt guns. I have a 30/06, 25/06,223 and a 270. They are all excellent rifles to shoot. I do have a Rem 700 in 243, and it is fun to shoot also. I would be interested in the scout rifle, if it weren't so pricy. The 308 is one caliber rifle I don't have. May have to put this one on my wish list for next year.

Lots of talk on this gun on other forums. My only complaint is that it looks like they discontinued the Frontier rifle, which is very much like the Scout except for sights and magazine. I wish they would have added the Scout and kept the Frontier for those of us who just like lightweight bolt guns with forward-mount scope.

The Ruger Scout Rifle reminds me of the British 303 enfield Jungle Carbine. I may have to call my guy that gets me good deals on new rifles. So far he has beaten every gun store I have ever priced against. He is pretty good at getting Ruger and Remington rifles 100-200 off of list prices.

Reminds me of a Mini-14 with a bolt action and an ugly stock. And if the accuracy is anything like the Mini you'd be lucky to hit a pie plate at 100yds. Rugers aren't known for accuracy.

I think you can find a lot of people to argue that. At least as far as their bolt guns go. I have no experience with the Mini-14, but the Ruger M77s I've shot were all pretty good. Biggest drawback is/was the trigger, and they are easy to replace.

I own several Ruger and Remington rifles. All of my M77 are considerably accurate. I can't say anything about the Mini-14, cause I have never owned or shot one.

I have three Rugers, my .223 bolt gun shoots bug holes and I can shoot coke cans all day long with my mini 30 at 100 yards, open sights......pie plate my butt.
