Never hunted deer at PC before and was wondering if anyone has any pointers or maybe even wanted to get together for some scouting. Not looking to get on anyones "sweet" spots just some do's or dont's for the area. New to hunting in general any advice is good advice, its my second season.

its a very hard place to hunt ton of people ur best bet is to get o the side of the mountain cause evryone and there brother will hunt on top so find a good cut on the side of the mnt somewhere.. its like daytona 500 up there when the opean the gat the first morning

I got drawn this year. I've hunted there once before, but it was my first hunt ever, so I really didn't have any idea about how to scout, pick a spot, etc. I'm not sure when I'm going to scout, but it'll probably be during the week sometime in the next 3 weeks or so. If anything, I can share what was told to me if it's still in my messages..

I was afraid of that. By cuts I guess you mean valleys or clearings? Guess I need to get me a good map of the area try pre-scout some spots. Anyone know if there are downloadable maps?

My biggest problem is going to be getting to my spot before someone else. My truck is only 2wd and I dont own a 4wheeler. Might be able to borrow one though. Do they allow the use of ATV's during the hunts?

That would be great, any information is good information.

I am actually thinking about going up next friday to look around.

I have hunted pc a good bit and yes you can use a ATV my best advice to you would be get a map and look for cuts on the bluff find a open in the bluff line and some good deer sign and get in the stand and sit tight all day people up there move a ton and deer are always getting pushed around and i have personally witnessed numerous deer use a bluff line to get below the bluff only to have hunters come walking through minutes later and pc is a huge place with many food plots just dont make the mistake of sitting on one cause I can pretty much for certain say you wont see deer in them they must use them at night

I huted there two years ago and GW told me to come back two or three days after and hunt then. Did not think that was allowed, but he said it was allowed. with no one there and deer feel safe it worked out pretty good, saw a lot of deer

Hunted there the past 2 years. First time both my buddies killed the first morning. Those were I think 2 of the 5 deer killed on that hunt. Last year we never saw a deer. This year I think we will drop off the side of the gulfs a little more. WATCH OUT FOR RATTLE SNAKES. If you talk to anybody from around there they will tell you about the rattle snakes. I haven't seen any but there must be a lot of them there.

I just went picked up the old 4wheeler from my dads. Soon as I get the carb rebuilt I plan on going up.

Really appreciate all the advice. I'm def going to take it all into consideration while planning my hunt. I dont really expect to harvest. I'm more hoping to learn.
