And felt kinda sad about it, I've worn the same orange hat since I first started hunting when I was 13, this last season was its last because as you can see, it's not very orange anymore , I'm actually gonna miss it lol.

I retired my lucky hat on opening day of bow season. The bill was broken in two places and the rain made some gross brown stuff run out of the band and down my face. Wore that hat to hunt everything for 8 years with the exception of muzzleloader and guns seasons. I feel your pain. It was a sad day lol

I keep wanting to retire my rifle. Really want a new one, and can't bring myself to get rid of the one I have.

Yep. I'm not a very sentimental guy, but for some reason - I get kind of sentimental with hunting equipment I have used a long time and have to retire. I had one orange/camo hat I bought a little mom&pop outdoor store on my way to LBL probably 14 years ago. I wore it on every ML and Gun hunt for probably 10+ years. Finally had to retire it. Even the seat of my Summit stand I had hunted out of for 12+ seasons - I got a little sentimental. But, you got to understand -we were close...I mean really close for 12 years. :rotf:

Yes I have a similar orange vest, mesh that can be balled up and crammed in any small pocket. Problem now is its been washed hundreds of times and just isn't very orange anymore.

Orange dye will make look good again :smash:

I had to retire my old coveralls bought back in about 1977. The darned things suddenly shrunk on me one year and wouldn't even come close to fitting?? Must have run the dryer too hot.

Seriously, I've never understood retiring a gun. I've shot guns until they broke lots of small pieces. Buy the part you need and install it and keep shooting. No need to retire it. Especially if it's just 20 or 30 years old. The possibility of a deer rifle barrel being shot out to the point that it's not accurate enough to deer hunt anymore is about equal to winning a Powerball lottery. Now if your motive for "retiring" a deer rifle is to justify buying another deer rifle, that's different. For me, I just tell the truth and say I want another rifle!

I've retired a few articles of clothing. Even at that, they still remain in a closet corner.

I have a bin full of cloths that are either too torn to wear, dont fit or are completely useless. Why do we keep these things?

Ive wore some clothing out or out growed it. Lost a few items then find them and use again. Now I have found a few things I would like better than what I was using and change but really cant say Ive retired anything.

I bought a camo Tennessee hat at the book store on campus when I was at college at UT in 2001. It as all but fallen apart now. I still got but it's not the diamond it used to be!!! Lots of mileage!
