Mine was made in the 50s or early 60s, so I cant tell you about the pricing of a new one, but I will tell you that I have never heard of one not being a top notch shooter.

go to budsgunshop.com they will have the best deals on them, if your looking in that price range look at the kimbers also. both are great rifles!

Don't know about the price but BPS in Sevierville still had a bunch of A-7's on closeout a couple weeks back.

Cost is a little higher than average, but they make a killer rifle and they are sweet shootin.

The only ones Iv ever seen in person were at Final Flight in Union City, TN and they were all near the $1000 range but they were all wood stocked and very very slick.
