Went and checked some cameras today and got this pick of a small buck, with a weird lump on his back. Any idea what it is?

And a closer look....

Looks like a wound that can't quite heal but has scarred on the edges. Could be part or all of a broadhead at the bottom of that hole.

I would think that would of done some damage to him though right? Maybe paralyzing him?

I hit a deer high like that once and he ran off. A month later a Jake Peavey who is a MLB pitcher shot him with a rifle. My broad head was still inside and healing. He scored 156 I believe.

You would be shocked at the wounds deer survive and show no ill effects. I've seen deer with broadheads imbedded in their skulls (penetrating the brain cavity). The deer showed no ill effects.

If you look at the like middle of the wound and the edges of it, it looks like the middle is actually raised above the rest of the wound.

I'm looking at the 2nd pic.

So I still think its something like a bot fly.
