Any ATV mechanics on here?

I need some help. I have a 98 Polaris Sportsman 500..I am trying to replace all 4 rear u joints. I can't get the rear axles out. The manual says they should come out when you loosen the bolts holding the yokes to the transmission case. The bolts are loose as they can get, the spacer is still attached to the left axle, but they won't even begin to move. I had 2 buddies look and they had no idea either. I hate to really pry because it is aluminum. Anybody here ever fool with these? I really hate to put it back together and take to the dealer..May not have a choice..Thanks for any info..

I might be wrong but i think you have to pry alittle.

Yeah, I pried a LITTLE..I don't want to break the aluminum housing..You know, first you pry, then you cry!!! Thanks..

as ya pry on it, tap it with a rubber mallet, eventually it will probably fall on the ground, something about that prying and rubber hammer thing

Chaneylake is right it is most likely cast and it will break with a steel hammer.
