Took my 7 yr old with me Sunday evening to try to get him his first bird. We got on a couple strutters with 10-12 hens. Made a couple different set ups before getting the longbeards to leave their hens to check us out. They came just to the crest of a hill in the field but wouldn't close the distance enough for me to feel comfortable about letting him shoot. So I was able to get to my fun which was laying at my side and let one have it. Hated that it didn't work out for him to shoot but he was one excited little boy to be able to take one home.
