Long story short, 4 longbeards and three hens on the top of the mountain, was able to get above them and about 200 yards from them, they gobbled their heads off but wouldnt break from the hens. We belly crawled backwards and circled around them as the hens were dragging them the other direction. Was able to get about 85 yards from them, soft called and one gobbled so i started cutting at them, they gobbled every breath and as they came to us, my boy was able to finally get a shot at 6 yards when they finally separated enough, man what a hunt, Blessed beyond measure. Now mommas only one with a tag left, it aint over yet boys get out there!!

Congrats to your boy!

But dont tell the googans the birds are still workable in May. They need to just give up and find another hobby that is

When a person acts as if they know everything about an area they have never hunted and refuses to except that other people might have knowledge about their property and the way their birds do or do not respond, even though it might go against what you read or were taught years ago, then they are not a googan for merely telling what they see and have documented…. Actually it makes you look more like the googan for acting as if you are the only one that can be correct. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that different parts of the state are gonna hunt a little different. This morning near Prentice Cooper a TWRA Officer told a co-worker of mine that this year the hunting has been way off in this part of the state….imagine that. So is the TWRA Officer a googan too? Last year we had about two good weeks of turkey hunting in this part of the state before the Tom's went silent this year they pretty much were done before season opened or within the first week. It may be different where you hunt, but I'm not the only one that has seen this, encountered it, or knows that pushing opening out so far may not hurt everybody across the state, but it does in this part of Tennessee.
