I believe it was either you or Ruger talking about a bolt cutter on your bolt for such things as pliers won't cut that hook.

I have a set of bolt cutters as well on my boat. Thankfully I have never had to use them but I keep them just in case.

He likely tore the extensor tendon. Between that and high likelihood of getting an infected extensor tendon methinks there is a lot more to this story. Both would be surgical problems.
