Hi All

Here are a few pictures of my American Leopard Hound x French Mastiff( Dogue de Bordeaux ) pup. His mom is a UKC register American Leopard Hound and his father is a UKC register French Mastiff ( Dogue de Bordeaux ). I am thinking of trying to make a hunting dog out of him.

That's a beautiful pup. May be a good hog dog. How does a Mastif's jaw compare to a pit bull's?

My uncle had some huge dogs that were probably a pit bull and hound mix (maybe something else as well) that he used for catching hogs in the Florida panhandle. My cousins would ride the biggest dog like a horse.

I plan to hog hunt with his offspring. For catch dogs I will cross Bruno with a pitt bull. For bay dogs I will cross him with a Catahoula Leopard Hound.

don't know if that would be a good idea

What cross would be the bad idea?

both the mastif is a big dog which don't usually do well or have a long life expetancy around wild hogs. pick you a good line of cur or hound to bay and stay with a short stout bulldog for catch. i've been bear and hog hunting for the better part of 15 years. and hate to see someone go into it misguided and end up loseing a dog unessarly because dogs are a big investment. it takes more than a lot of people think to raise and train a dog

a guy at work has a italian mastiff. not sure all the diffrences in what you got but his dog is huge, I mean huge. I dont think he would be huntable..IMO

If any one has contact info for the guy that started this post , I would like to talk to him . Here is my number if he would like to call me . 901-314-1650 .Thanks new here and enjoying the site .

My experince with crossing a catahoula with either a bulldog or mastiff dosen't seem to work out very well. Mainly with the owners/breeders not understanding of the catahoula breed. I'm not saying that anyone is stupid or ignorant, but a catahoula isn't for everyone. I have been breeding catahouola's for 20 years and I'm still learning from them. An older gentleman once told me "choose wisely and be fully informed on your decisions".

So cute! He got beautiful eyes. :) I hope you can post it again after 1 year. I'm sure he'll get bigger
