One of my buddies killed this giant yesterday in Kennedy, AL. Free range local farm. Wouldn't even know where to begin guessing the score.

Yikes. Is that a "he, she or IT"?

Trophy no matter. Congrats to the hunter.

I was thinking the same thing. looks to still be in velvet, which is usually a sign of it being hermaphrodite or female with antlers.

I posted an Article on this forum earlier this week of a buck similiar to that killed in Alabama also. Do not know where Kennedy, AL is, but the one I posted was killed in Cherokee or Dekalb county I think.
IT was a mainframe 8 in velvet, with testicular problems. The hunter had 3 years worth of trail cam pics of him. He never shedded his antlers. Stayed in velvet his entire life, gradually growing larger.

That's called a "cactus rack" and that buck never sheds his antlers (keeps the same set all his life) and his antlers never harden or shed velvet.

Man, I'd hate to be cactus racked.

Apparentl;y he has been lacking testicles or at least descendng ones for quite some time. Reminds of the Louisiana "cactus buck" of some years ago.
