Several years ago there was a question about hunting small game with air pistols and the answer was that only air rifles were legal, not air pistols. It appears as though they changed the language in the hunting guide from "air rifles" to "air guns" or "air firearms". I also noticed there is a caliber designation now of .25 caliber or smaller. Does that now mean that all air firearms .25 caliber and smaller are legal for small game, even air pistols?

You apparently haven't seen quality air pistols. You have to look at good precharged pneumatic air pistols, not the wally world spring guns, although those will work too within their limitations.

Kinda like saying a recurve bow and arrow wont kill a deer.
